The Circle of Bats is a hand carved piece of Jade with a circle of Bats (legend below). To compliment the Jade I used Unikite beads and chips for this long necklace. It is approximately 28" long and the pendant is another 3".

Legend of the Bat:

In the practice of Feng Shui, Bats are often displayed in the group of five in the form of a circle. This formation is called as “five fortunes” which is believed to help to bring longevity, happiness, good luck, wealth and prosperity.

Sometimes A bat is shown biting a golden coin. It is to invite wealth, health, good fortune and natural death at a ripe age. It can also be hung outside of the window of the room where a sick people is sleeping to promote healing and ward off other diseases.

Some people hang a pair of bat figures at the Western or Northwestern part of the house to bring double happiness and luck for the family. It is said that it will also bring helps from powerful people in the time of urgency.

Bat is often displayed with flowers. Bat embodies the male principles and flowers show femininity. This is to bring balance to the energy of the house.

A woman hoping for children is always suggested to hang the painting of a bat with peaches which is the symbol of fertility. The peaches have long become one of the most favorite fruits of the Chinese People.
